Feinschmecker magazine has voted Anna Reckmann’s praline boutique the best in the region: “Her creations are like precious jewels in a glass case.”
Anna Reckmann doesn’t really like the media hype, since she’s busy getting produce ready for the Christmas trade. And yet she still takes a moment to tell her extraordinary story. After all, this career-changer’s patisserie boutique was “completely surprisingly” voted the best in the state of Hessen by “Feinschmecker” magazine in November 2021. “There is absolute perfection in her creations; the exquisite works of art sit like precious jewels in a glass case – almost too beautiful to bite into,” reads the article in the special edition of the magazine showcasing “The 500 best cafés and roasteries in Germany 2022”.
Anna Reckmann never dreamed of such success when she left her well-paid job as head of a research laboratory at the chemical group BASF in Ludwigshafen to pursue her passion for baking and complete her training as a patisseur in Paris. There, she trained in the most prestigious patisseries and gained her Diplome de Patisserie at the renowned Ferrandi culinary school. In order to be able to run her own business in Germany, she had to pass a few other exams, too, but finally she had all the paperwork in place to open her own manufactory in a former bakery in Frankfurt.
That’s where we find her now, amidst ovens and baking trays and fridges and half-finished macaroons, the Parisian specialty, as she explains her recipe for success. “What interests me is creating tensions between different tastes and textures, sweet and sour or creamy and crispy.” The result: unique praline creations such as mango curry or parmesan hazelnut, which have also been recognized in the International Chocolate Awards and of course are made only with selected ingredients from all over the world.
